SUGGESTIONS FOR
DEPARTMENT ASSESSMENT WEBSITES

USU's accrediting body, the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, has clearly indicated that the university needs to improve in the area of assessment. Well-organized, comprehensive, and up-to-date information on department websites is an important component of USU's plan to meet Northwest's expectations.

Each academic department should have an easily-located link labeled "Assessment" on its homepage. The specific information that can be accessed from that link will vary from unit to unit, depending on the discipline represented. Some departments already have excellent assessment websites, while others are just beginning or are revising their sites. "One size does not fit all," but there is no reason for each USU unit to re-invent the wheel. The purpose of this site is to suggest how a department assessment website might be structured and to share examples of what some USU departments are doing.

The sequence of links shown below represents a website that is easily navigated and contains the essential elements for good assessment. On an actual department website, clicking on the link would take the user to the unit's information. Here the link is used to show what other units have done or to suggest information that might be included.
